Impact Evaluation of Social Norms Campaigns in Northern Nigeria to Promote School Enrollment and Educational Outcomes of Primary Age Children – NIPEP & The World Bank- 2018/19
We recently conducted this baseline survey for the Nigeria Partnership for Education Project (NIPEP) and the World Bank in Kano and Jigawa States. The survey aimed to collect data relevant to promoting school enrollment and educational outcomes of primary school-aged children through educational entertainment.
The survey consisted of two components: (a) Census of 37,638 households in catchment areas of 128 schools and collection of basic demographic information about the households, with particular emphasis on identifying those that had children who were aged between 6 years (completed) and 9 years; and (b) baseline survey of 9,393 households which consisted of household questionnaires administered to parents and children, as well as reading and numeracy ability tests administered to children. The baseline survey collected data on socio-demographic characteristics, perception of the benefits and demerits of schooling, measures of aspiration, expectations and self-efficacy of parents and children.
